China is really putting some data centers underwater. Instead of building every server room on land, engineers seal the servers inside strong metal cabins and place them on the seabed near the coast. The ocean water helps cool the machines naturally, so they need less power for air-conditioning. One Hainan system was placed about 35 meters underwater, and Shanghai also has a newer wind-powered underwater project for AI and cloud computing.
