In a student-friendly initiative, Tamil Nadu has announced that students wearing their school uniforms can now travel free on government buses across the State.
The move, introduced under the leadership of Chief Minister Vijay, is aimed at reducing the financial burden on families and ensuring that transportation never becomes a barrier to education. For thousands of students, especially those from rural and economically weaker backgrounds, the scheme could make daily travel to school easier and more affordable.
Education advocates have welcomed the decision, saying that access to transportation plays a crucial role in reducing dropout rates and improving attendance. Many have also argued that similar policies should be considered by other States to support students and strengthen public education.
