Standing on Toes!
Standing on your toes is an easy movement that can help activate the calf muscles and support circulation throughout the lower legs. Each time the calves contract, they work like a natural muscle pump, helping compress nearby veins and encourage blood to travel upward toward the heart against gravity. Repeated movement also supports normal fluid circulation within the legs, which can be especially useful after spending hours sitting at a desk or standing throughout the day. Performing controlled toe raises in the evening may help your legs feel lighter and less stiff while gently working the calves, ankles, and feet. Try rising slowly onto the balls of your feet, briefly holding at the top, then lowering your heels with control before repeating. Adding several repetitions before bedtime can be a simple way to get the lower legs moving after an inactive day and may help ease temporary feelings of heaviness, tightness, or mild swelling.
