Most Honey-producing Bee!

The Western honey bee (Apis mellifera) is the bee species most widely used for honey production around the world. Its colonies can contain tens of thousands of workers, which collect nectar from flowers and convert it into honey. Large colonies can store substantial amounts inside the hive, allowing beekeepers to harvest part of the surplus. The species is also widely managed because it adapts well to hive systems and can be moved between locations for commercial beekeeping and crop pollination. Although many bee species make small amounts of honey or store food, Apis mellifera is by far the most important species for large-scale human honey production.
