Floating AI Data Center!

Optimal Transit has proposed the 100-MW Kraaken, a floating vessel designed to combine AI computing, electricity generation and freshwater production. About 60 MW would support AI computing, while up to 40 MW could be supplied to shore, enough to power roughly 32,000 homes. The vessel would use Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC), extracting energy from the temperature difference between warm surface water and cold deep seawater. It could also produce up to 30 million liters (7.9 million gallons) of fresh water per day using vacuum-flash desalination and waste heat from onboard computing. Designed to move away from severe weather, the Kraaken could potentially provide power, water and computing capacity without relying entirely on land-based infrastructure. Optimal Transit estimates development could take about three years and cost roughly $587 million, excluding AI computing hardware.
