Ensuring regular attention!

A newspaper vendor was delivering the newspaper to different houses. In one house he tried to slip the paper in the mailbox but could not succeed. He tried to slip below the gate but there also he failed. Finally he pressed the doorbell. An old-man appeared at the door and collected the newspaper. The vendor complained about the mailbox and the space below the door. To this the old man informed him that he had purposefully ensured that the vendor must call him personally. The vendor complained about his busy morning schedule during distribution of newspapers and then his rushing for his regular job in an office. The old-man informed the vendor that he appreciates his busy schedule but he has a reason for asking him to call personally for collecting the newspaper. He has two grown-up sons who are living with their families in other cities. Nobody has time to take care of him. As such if he does not reply to the call-bell, the vendor may inform the neighbours, who would inform his sons accordingly. For this extra labour the vendor would be compensated by Rs 1000/- every month. The vendor did not wish to accept any extra money for that service but he raised a valid point about his sons. He asked the old man whether his sons would care about him in case of some mishap? The old man replied that his sons would not rush in case of his death but they would surely visit immediately to gain ownership of his costly house.
