Imagine walking onto a plane, finding someone in your seat, and realizing he looks exactly like you. Then imagine running into him again at your hotel and later at a pub. When Douglas checked into his hotel in Galway, he saw Stirling checking into the same hotel. He called it total weirdness. Later that night, he went to a pub called the Quays. Stirling was there too. This time, they had a pint together and took another photo, where the only noticeable difference was their height. A friend posted the photo online with the caption: "Guy on right is the husband of my friend. Guy on left is a STRANGER he met on a flight last night." The two became a viral sensation, and their chance encounter reignited fascination with doppelgangers, unrelated people who bear striking resemblances to each other. Scientists point out that limited genetic variation in certain traits can sometimes produce lookalikes.
