Your reactions if a man resembles you!
Imagine walking onto a plane, finding someone in your seat, and realizing he looks exactly like you. Then imagine running into him again at your hotel and later at a pub.
Neil Thomas Douglas boarded a Ryanair flight from London Stansted to Galway, Ireland, and walked to his assigned seat. There was already someone sitting in it. When the man looked up, Douglas froze. The stranger had the exact same bushy ginger beard, the same hairstyle, and even a similar black shirt. He was looking at his own face.
He asked the man to move, and when the guy looked up, he thought, holy s***, he looks like me. The stranger, a 35-year-old Londoner named Robert Stirling, had swapped seats so a couple could sit together. He ended up right next to Douglas.
The two men took a selfie, posted it on Twitter, and watched the internet lose its mind. The photo was retweeted thousands of times.
But the story did not end there. When Douglas checked into his hotel in Galway, he saw Stirling checking into the same hotel. He called it total weirdness. Later that night, he went to a pub called the Quays. Stirling was there too. This time, they had a pint together and took another photo, where the only noticeable difference was their height.
A friend posted the photo online with the caption: "Guy on right is the husband of my friend. Guy on left is a STRANGER he met on a flight last night."
The two became a viral sensation, and their chance encounter reignited fascination with doppelgangers, unrelated people who bear striking resemblances to each other. Scientists point out that limited genetic variation in certain traits can sometimes produce lookalikes.
A friend of Douglas later tweeted a follow-up photo from the pub with the caption: "The love affair continued post flight."
Have you ever met someone who looked exactly like you?
