Holding a Plank - Challenge!

Most people find holding a plank for one minute challenging. Now imagine maintaining that position for five hours. Canadian fitness enthusiast DonnaJean Wilde made headlines for her extraordinary endurance after reportedly completing a five-hour plank at the Huntsman World Senior Games in Utah. Her achievement is a powerful reminder that age doesn’t automatically limit physical strength or fitness. A plank may look like a simple exercise, but it challenges several muscle groups at once. Your abs, shoulders, back, and glutes all work together to keep your body stable. You don’t need to hold a plank for hours to build a stronger core. Even 15 to 30 seconds with proper form can be a great starting point. Keep your body aligned, engage your abdominal muscles, and breathe normally. As your strength improves, gradually increase your holding time. A stronger core can support better balance, posture, and stability during everyday activities. Extraordinary records are impressive, but your personal progress matters more. Start at your own level, stay consistent, and keep getting stronger. Fitness has no finish line, and it’s never too late to start.
