Restful travels!
France is reviving the golden age of travel — not by speeding things up, but by making time more restful. Its new generation of overnight trains now includes full beds, private rooms, and cozy compartments that turn rail journeys into moving hotels. Passengers can board in Paris and wake up in Vienna, Milan, or Berlin — no airport queues, no dawn check-ins, just uninterrupted sleep across borders.
Operated by SNCF and in collaboration with European partners, these sleeper trains are reimagining long-distance mobility for a post-airline era. Each room comes with linens, dimmable lights, charging ports, and even compact washrooms in some models. With prices often lower than flights and city-center to city-center routes, they’re drawing in both tourists and climate-conscious commuters.
This revival isn’t just about nostalgia — it’s a green shift. Night trains produce a fraction of the emissions compared to flights, especially over short to mid-range distances. As Europe looks to cut carbon, France is betting on comfort and connection over speed. New corridors are being planned across the continent, linking capitals and hidden towns alike.
By letting people fall asleep in one culture and wake in another, France is turning travel into time regained — not time lost.
