Indian Express EXPOSES!
Investigative journalism plays an important role in every democracy by examining decisions made by governments, political parties, corporations, and public institutions. Reports published by newspapers such as The Indian Express, along with investigations by many other national media organisations, have often led to public debate, official inquiries, and policy changes. At the same time, allegations reported by the media should not automatically be treated as established facts until verified through investigations or judicial proceedings. Independent reporting serves the public by encouraging transparency and accountability, regardless of which political party is in power. Healthy democracies benefit when journalists ask difficult questions, institutions respond with evidence, and citizens evaluate information critically. Responsible journalism is not about supporting or opposing any government—it is about presenting verified facts that allow the public to make informed decisions.
