Avoiding scratches!
As a senior driver, if your car is parked very close to a pillar in a tight space, the main question is whether to reverse or move forward.
In most cases, reversing is safer and gives you more control. When you reverse slowly, you can carefully turn the steering and create space between the car and the pillar. This reduces the chance of scratching or hitting the side.
Moving forward may seem easier, but it can be risky because the front of the car might not have enough space to turn safely, especially in tight corners.
The best approach depends on how much space you can see in your mirrors and around the car. Usually, a slow and steady reverse with small steering corrections works best to bring the car out safely.
The key is to stay calm, move slowly, and use your mirrors properly. The goal is not just to get out, but to avoid any damage while carefully guiding the car out of the tight parking spot.
