WHO Youth Ambassadors-Recharge Rain-water!
Two brothers and sisters of Bengaluru have done such a thing that the whole country should know.
17-year-old Veruska Pandey and 20-year-old Vedansh Pandey got India's first patent on the technology of recharge rainwater (Bhujal) through stormwater drains.
The rainwater that used to waste on the roads will now go straight to the ground and drying borewells will be able to live again.
Their model is very simple and scientific. Open wales are installed inside the Stormwater drain, which fit precision drilled rings and slotted GI pipes. These pipes and rings quickly ground water during rains and slowly recharge the aquifer during dry months.
The biggest thing it doesn't require extra ground and the water goes down naturally filtered. Both also received a second patent named “Solid Segregation Grill” which keeps water flow clean by preventing solid waste in the drains.
Veruska had first started Project Suryanayak, which gave CPR training to thousands of people. They are WHO Youth Ambassador and have published research on NCDs.
Vedansh is a student of Environmental Engineering and is connected to wildlife conservation and digital entrepreneurship.
Veruska Pandey and Vedansh have shown that both floods and water crisis of cities can be solved.
