Helping - wrong way!
A lot of us are like that elephant in the image ๐
Trying very hard to “help” people… without first understanding what actually helps them.
Sometimes at work, in relationships, parenting, leadership, or friendships, we hand out oxygen cylinders to fish ๐ ๐
Not because we are bad people.
But because we assume: “What works for me must work for everyone.”
The elephant genuinely wants to save the fish.
But the elephant understands life through lungs, not gills.
And that’s what happens many times in life.
We advise people based on our experiences.
Judge them based on our strengths.
And expect them to heal, grow, think, cope, or succeed the way we do.
Real wisdom is not in forcing people into our world.
It is in understanding theirs first.
Before advising…
Before correcting…
Before judging…
Before trying to change someone…
Let’s pause and ask: “Am I helping them…
or just helping them become more like me?”
Empathy is not agreeing with everyone.
It is understanding that different people breathe differently
