A glass of Lassi!
We were a group of friends sitting comfortably at a shop, having ordered lassi and passing the time pulling each other's legs and sharing laughs. Just then, an elderly woman of about 70–75 years stood before us, stretching out her hand for money.
Her back was bent with age, and hunger was visibly etched into the wrinkles of her face. Her eyes were deep-set but filled with tears.
Seeing her, I don't know what crossed my mind, but I pulled back my hand which I had put into my pocket to take out some coins, and asked her instead:
"Grandma, would you like to drink some lassi?"
Grandma was less surprised by my question than my friends were. If I had given her money, it would have been just 5 or 10 rupees, but a single glass of lassi cost 40 rupees.
Therefore, by offering her lassi, the probability of me becoming poor and that old woman tricking me to become rich had increased significantly in my friends' eyes.
