Yet to find another 'Committed mother'!

In Darshila, a small tribal village in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, lives a mother named Phool Kumari and her son, Rajkumar Jaiswal. Rajkumar is 80% disabled and cannot walk properly. At home, it is just the two of them. Phool Kumari earns her living as a daily-wage labourer. After Class 10, his new school was about 10 km away. For him, that distance was impossible. For his mother, it was not. For nearly two years, she lifted him onto her back every morning and carried him to the bus stand. She rode the bus with him, then carried and held him all the way to his classroom. She waited at the school until classes ended, then brought him home the same way. Every day spent at his school was a day without full wages. The bus fare alone was about Rs 50 a day. She asked for an electric tricycle many times, but for months, nothing came. Then, in September 2026, at a government camp, the District Collector handed Rajkumar a motorized tricycle of his own. He hugged it and kissed it. Officials also promised him a free bus pass and a hostel stay with a caretaker. Today, Rajkumar is in Class 12. He dreams of doing something big in life, so he can end his mother's poverty. Some mothers give their children everything they have. Phool Kumari gave him her own back as his road to school.
