Extracting water from Blue!

A NOBEL PRIZE-WINNING SCIENTIST has developed an incredible solar-powered technology that extracts WATER directly from the air, even in the desert, with plans to produce up to 1,000 LITRES of clean water every day! 💧☀️ Meet Omar Yaghi, the scientist who won the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and is now working on a remarkable invention that could transform access to fresh water around the world. But what makes his story even more extraordinary is his childhood. Growing up in a Palestinian refugee family in Jordan, Yaghi experienced severe water shortages firsthand. Sometimes, running water was available only once every week or two, forcing his family to rush to fill containers whenever the supply arrived. Decades later, he is helping develop technology that could prevent others from facing the same struggles. His invention uses specially engineered materials containing millions of microscopic pores that capture water molecules directly from the atmosphere. Even in extremely dry conditions, these materials can absorb moisture from the air. Sunlight or other sources of heat can then release the trapped moisture, allowing it to be collected as liquid water. And the results are remarkable! A prototype has demonstrated the ability to produce up to 300 litres of water per day, while a larger commercial system is being designed to generate 1,000 LITRES daily! The technology could eventually provide a valuable source of water for remote communities, drought-stricken regions, and places without reliable infrastructure. For a man who grew up wondering when his family would next have running water, it's an extraordinary achievement. Sometimes, the people who experience the world's biggest problems become the ones determined to solve them.
