'Will-power' rewards!

She was just 13 when one ordinary Sunday changed her life forever. 💔 In 2002, Malvika Iyer was living with her family in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Earlier that year, a fire at an ammunition depot near her colony had scattered pieces of bombs all around the area. One afternoon, Malvika was fixing a torn pocket on her jeans. She went to the garage looking for something heavy to press it with, and picked up an object that looked harmless. It was a live grenade. It exploded in her hands. The clock in her room stopped at that very moment. She lost both her hands, and her legs were badly injured. Nearly two years of surgeries and bed rest followed. Her board exams were just three months away, and everyone thought her studies were over. But Malvika didn't give up. She sat her Class 10 exams privately with a scribe, scored 97%, and became a state rank holder. President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam invited her to meet him. She went on to study at St. Stephen's College and the Delhi School of Social Work. Then she did something unbelievable. She typed her entire PhD thesis using a bone sticking out of her arm, her one "extraordinary finger." Today, Dr Malvika Iyer is a motivational speaker and disability rights activist. She has spoken at the United Nations in New York and received the Nari Shakti Puraskar from the President of India. A grenade took her hands, but it could never take her courage. 🙏
