One bad commute gave a Bengaluru engineer a smart idea.
After hitting 12 potholes on his way to work, Gaurav Sen decided to build a system that could report them automatically.
He connected a car dashcam with GPS and an accelerometer, then used AI to scan the road footage.
The tool can spot potholes, save their exact location and even classify them by size.
But it goes one step further.
The system checks thousands of government road contracts to find which contractor or authority may be responsible for that stretch.
Then it puts everything together into a complaint record with the pothole photo, location and road details.
The whole process takes about 4 seconds.
What used to need photos, location tracking and manual complaints can now be prepared during a normal drive.
It’s a simple example of AI being used to solve a very everyday city problem.
