Therapy through tradition!

Gentle, wise, and quietly transformative — in parts of Africa, healing now sits under the shade of a tree. Grandmothers, deeply rooted in community and experience, are trained as lay therapists. With chairs placed beneath branches, they offer free counselling — no clinics, no white coats, just stories, listening, and steady warmth. Their presence is familiar, their advice seasoned, their care unconditional. For many, it’s the first time mental health feels close, safe, and human. It’s therapy through tradition — not because science is absent, but because sometimes healing begins with someone who knows your name and holds your hand as you speak.
