When you hug your mom, don’t do it halfway!
When an adult child hugs their mother, it’s a kind of time travel.
For a brief moment, she doesn’t see who you are now—
she sees the three-year-old who once curled up on her lap,
smelled like soap and bedtime stories,
and fell asleep on her shoulder without a single worry.
And when she holds you a little tighter, a little longer,
it’s because that old phrase—“You’ll miss this one day”—
was never just a saying to her.
It was a promise she always knew would come true.
She’s trying to pause time.
To keep the moment from slipping through her fingers.
So when you hug your mom, don’t do it halfway.
Don’t leave space.
Hug her with presence, with warmth, with meaning—
long enough for the world to quiet down for a second.
Give her the gift of returning to the memories
she treasures more than anything money could buy.
Because no one will ever love you the way she does.
And one day, you’ll hope your own child
holds you the very same way.
