Young students can’t interpret clock hands!

New York City’s cellphone ban in public schools was designed to cut distractions and boost focus in classrooms. But once phones were put away, teachers noticed an unexpected issue: many teenagers struggle to read traditional analog clocks. A basic life skill is quietly fading. Educators say students often ask for the time because they can’t interpret clock hands. While the ban has improved attention and face-to-face interaction, it has also exposed how dependent students have become on digital displays for everyday information.
