Flying potatoes!

Boeing once loaded an aircraft with about 20,000 pounds of potatoes to test its in-flight Wi-Fi system. Why potatoes? Because they absorb and reflect radio signals in a way that’s surprisingly similar to the human body. The spuds made a practical—and far less wiggly—stand-in for passengers while engineers measured how wireless signals would behave inside a full cabin.
