Lotus in Kashmir Lake!

For the first time in over three decades, lotus flowers have returned to bloom across a lake in Kashmir — a moment that moved many locals to tears. Once abundant, the lotus disappeared due to pollution, unchecked weed growth, and declining water quality. Its return signals a rare ecological recovery. Lotus plants are extremely sensitive to water conditions. Their resurgence suggests improved oxygen levels, reduced contamination, and healthier sediment — often the result of sustained lake restoration efforts such as de-weeding, dredging, and pollution control. Beyond beauty, lotus ecosystems support fish, insects, and birds, helping stabilize freshwater biodiversity. For communities, the bloom represents hope — proof that damaged ecosystems can heal when given time and care. Nature doesn’t forget. Sometimes, it simply waits.
