THE PINK MOON IS COMING!
THE PINK MOON IS COMING π
April’s full moon peaks on April 1, 2026 at 10:11 p.m. EDT (02:11 UTC April 2), and it’s one of the most enchanting sights of the spring.
The moon will appear full for about 3 days, glowing large and bright as it rises over the horizon.
BUT WILL THE MOON REALLY TURN PINK? Not quite!
It’s named after phlox subulata, a spring wildflower in North America, not its color.
Still, it’s a beauty to watch! The rise near the horizon may also look orange and gigantic thanks to the “moon illusion" that usually happens when the horizon appears low.
Fun fact: This is the Paschal Full Moon, which helps set Easter 2026 on April 5.
Look east at sunset on April 1 and plan your peak viewing by your time zone
EDT: 10:12 p.m.
CDT: 9:12 p.m.
MDT: 8:12 p.m.
PDT: 7:12 p.m.
AKDT: 6:12 p.m.
HST: 4:12 p.m. π✨
Will you be catching this magical spring moon? π
