Dates support a smoother labor!
Research suggests that dates may be more than just a sweet snack during late pregnancy they could actually support a smoother labor. In one clinical study, women who ate six dates daily during the final four weeks of pregnancy arrived at the hospital significantly more dilated, had a 77% shorter first stage of labor, and experienced a 42% lower rate of cesarean sections compared to those who didn’t. Dates are rich in fiber, magnesium, and tannins, nutrients believed to support efficient uterine contractions and healthy hormonal balance, while their natural sugars provide quick, accessible energy for the physical demands of labor. Adding this simple, whole food habit in the final weeks of pregnancy may help the body prepare for a more efficient delivery.
