Shubman Gill - named the captain of India’s men’s ODI team!
Shubman Gill has been named the captain of India’s men’s ODI team, replacing Rohit Sharma, in a decision taken during a selection meeting chaired by BCCI Chairman of Selectors Ajit Agarkar on Saturday. Gill will lead India in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, scheduled from October 19 to 25.
Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the vice-captain of the ODI squad. Following the ODIs, India will also play five T20 internationals in Australia between October 29 and November 8. The BCCI has indicated that these changes in the ODI leadership setup are part of a long-term strategy ahead of the next ODI World Cup.
