Still a GIRL inside!

I once asked an elderly woman what it felt like to be old — to know that most of her life was now behind her. She smiled gently and said something I’ve never forgotten. “I’ve been the same age my whole life,” she told me. “The voice inside my head has never grown old. I’ve always just been me — my mother’s daughter, the same girl I’ve always been. I kept wondering when I would finally feel like an old woman.” She said she has watched her body change, her strength lessen, her movements slow. She has felt time mark her skin and soften her senses. But inside? Inside she is unchanged. The spirit within her has never aged, never grown weary. It is steady. It is alive. We grow older in appearance, but not in essence. Our souls do not wrinkle. Our spirits do not tire. So the next time you meet someone elderly, look beyond the gray hair and the lined hands. See the child still living within them — the dreams they once carried, the love they still long for, the purpose they still seek. Because just like you, they are still that child inside.
